Project and workspace permissions

Buildprint uses a role-based permission system to control who can access and modify your workspace and projects. Permissions are layered — workspace roles set the baseline, and project roles add fine-grained access within individual projects.

Workspace roles

Every workspace member has one of four roles, ordered from most to least privileged:

  • Owner — Full control over the workspace. Can transfer ownership, delete the workspace, and manage billing. There is exactly one owner per workspace.

  • Admin — Can manage members, invitations, settings, and all projects. Admins automatically get owner-level access to every project in the workspace.

  • Member — Standard access. Can only see and work on projects they have been explicitly added to.

  • Guest — Minimal access. Like members, guests can only see projects they have been explicitly added to.

Project roles

Within each project, members are assigned a project role that controls what they can do:

  • Owner — Full project control. Can manage project members, delete the project, and share conversations.

  • Editor — Can edit project resources, view decrypted monitor configurations, and work with the project's connected Bubble app.

  • Viewer — Read-only access to the project and its resources.

Workspace owners and admins automatically inherit owner-level access to every project, even without an explicit project membership.

Managing members

Workspace admins can invite new members by email. Each invitation can include:

  • A workspace role (member or guest)

  • Access to specific projects with designated project roles

  • Permission grants like the ability to create new projects

Invitations are sent via email with a unique link that expires after 7 days. Admins can resend, revoke, or view pending invitations from the workspace settings.

Project owners can also invite workspace members directly to their project without needing workspace admin access.

Permission grants

Beyond roles, workspace admins can toggle specific permissions for individual members. Currently available:

  • Create projects — Controls whether a member can create new projects in the workspace. Disabled by default for non-admin roles.

Transferring ownership

The workspace owner can transfer ownership to another admin or member. The original owner is demoted to admin. Only one person can be the workspace owner at a time.

The owner cannot leave the workspace without first transferring ownership to someone else.
